Captain Cook's Monument, and the legendary "Place of Refuge" are in one of the most sought-after snorkeling destinations in all the world, Kealakekua Bay. This spot is also cherished and revered by the Hawaiian people, and they have recently increased the restrictions to this beautiful, island cove. Kona Ocean Adventures is proud to retain one of the dwindling number of permits, and we'll be happy to take you there!
Kealakekua Bay is the largest sheltered natural bay on the island of Hawaii. Your naturalist captain will regal you with tales of Hawaiian folklore and history as you travel to pristine Kealakekua Bay. Snorkel among beautiful tropical fish living in the coral gardens, then enjoy a a delicious lunch including local fresh cut fruits, a variety of snacks and sandwiches and more. We will share the geology of the island as you venture into sea caves and past lava tubes!

Arrive as guests, leave as friends / 5 of 5 stars
…yesterday was the best snorkel experience ever… Here's what separates Kona Ocean Adventures from the rest, they are just as interested in giving you your best experience as you are! And they take small groups to make it the best and the safest… The boat was big, clean, cushioned, had a restroom, and best of all a shade canopy… the fish and coral were brilliant, colors were awesome. If you want a peaceful and memorable experience like having your best summer day with friends, book with Kona ocean Adventures.
The highlight of our 3 weeks in Hawaii / 5 of 5 stars
For me, the highlight of our 3 weeks in Hawaii was the dolphin snorkel. With only 6 on board, we could get into the water quickly and, because the dolphins were located so soon and were so plentiful, we were able to spend a very long time in one place. There were dolphins everywhere and, having them swim so close was very exciting. I counted 28 in one pod. After a brief and basic snack, we headed off for a reef snorkel before returning to the harbour.
What an amazing day! / 5 of 5 stars
This was the best snorkeling tour we've ever been on. The crew were fantastic and very attentive. We had so much fun and just had the best time ever.
Mahalo Captain Laure, Captain Danny, and entire crew!!
"MUST DO" Boat Charter / 5 of 5 stars
Our group enjoyed jumping off Tree House Cliff and snorkeling in the Kealakekua Bay Marine Sanctuary. After exploring the amazing coral reef and swimming with beautiful and rare tropical fish, for what seemed like hours, we were greeted by Danny and Sara for a round of drinks and delicious and healthy finger foods. After learning about the fauna and the history of Hawaii, (at Captain Cook Memorial Statue) we were accompanied by a pod of dolphins for the journey home. Great people, great memories......
So many friends began as our customers... It's what we love the most about what we do!
